Kae Whalen is a Los Angeles-based writer, event producer and Wine Personality : )
Her work with wine began in 2013 as a server at Isa and Diner in New York, then as the wine director at Kismet, Sara Kramer and Sarah Hymanson’s James Beard Award-nominated restaurant in Los Angeles. She was named one of Forbes’ 30 Under 30 (Food & Beverage) in 2020, an Eater Young Gun in 2019, and has been featured in the Los Angeles Times, Eater, Pipette and Wine & Spirits, among others.
In 2020, she and collaborator Sam Zimman created Gay Wine, a live video-turned-event series that culminated with Open Door in 2022, a wine fair spotlighting California winemakers working without additives.
Kae’s current work spans event and media production, market strategy, and restaurant consulting, all with a focus on wine and hospitality.
